Between sculpture, drawing, scenography and installation, Awena Cozannet works from the human body, on man and his temporality. She uses matter as a language and the body as a material. Some of her sculptures were worn by herself or by others, for the time of a photograph, a public performance. This approach led her to develop collaborations of artistic practices in Bangladesh, Burma or Pakistan, in China (…) which have deeply marked her. She deepens her knowledge through the different projects, residencies and exhibitions in which she participates or that she organizes in France and abroad.

Soulever les racines marcher sur l’eau

15 octobre > 13 novembre 2010

“She draws like one sleeps. Sleep is her own, but she has no control over it; dreams are undoubtedly hers, but she doesn’t command them – perhaps they even frighten her a little. She’s deep inside herself and she’s expecting. She is waiting for her. She draws as one opens a house to the wind. Will enter whoever will, shivering creatures or inert, icy demons. Contrary to its etymology, the drawing is here without purpose. ”
